Letter, 1865 April 3.

The collection contains one letter from Lawson Gross to friend Brazilla Guernsey, dated 3 April 1865. In the letter, Gross notes how busy he is in Sherman's army, making writing to anyone difficult. Although he expresses disdain for the war, he also states his willingness to see his service through to the end. Gross lists the regiments who have joined Sherman's force, and the people he has met. He also reports the details he knows concerning the death of an acquaintance, Pat. Gross finishes by laying out a common day's schedule in the army to explain his lack of time to write. The collection also contains parts of the envelopes of two letters to Brazilla Guernsey.
